Journalists keep tweeting old clips of Biden that are supposed to be damning. And while some are relevant, I just don't think they'll be that politically useful. Obama picked Biden and washed all his past "sins" away. To challenge him, you have to challenge the Obama/Biden legacy
I did a lot of canvassing in 2008 (in a non-journalistic capacity) and I distinctly recall many older, largely white voters who had reservations about Obama deciding to vote for the ticket in part because they liked Biden. Politically, he was a very effective running mate
I'm hearing stuff like, "the people voted for Obama, not Biden." That's just not true on multiple levels. For one, the people elected Biden twice as VP. He was on the ballot. More abstractly, a non-trivial amount of Obama's appeal with the electorate can be attributed to Biden
By historical standards, Biden was also a uniquely active and visible VP. He was party to many of Obama's major decisions. He became a pop culture "icon" in his own right. Which is all just to say: Biden is popular because of Obama. That's why the old clips won't really resonate
