The US and Iran have been at low level war for a long time though at times they got pallets of cash. The latest fears they'll attack are nothing new.

The Trump administration has designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization. The designation is long overdue, yet many Americans may not know that the IRGC has been a leading killer of U.S. troops.
According to new information released last week by the administration, Iran was responsible for the deaths of over six hundred U.S. service members in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, a significant percentage of U.S. casualties in the conflict.

It's not 'undermining' but rather fake democracy. The new tactic in hybrid warfare is for strongmen to make dictatorship look like democracy.
Politicians have learned the art of making war in secret and tyrannizing in secret. Low observable technology goes beyond stealth airplanes.
Ordinary people are losing the political arms race against their rulers. Digital manipulation, mass surveillance and individual targeting have tipped the scales against publics that rely on traditional protest tactics like marches and rallies.

1) I take the position that the U.S. is in a state of war with more than one country. War being defined as a hostile attack with the aim of invasion and takeover.

Both are deliberate exaggerations.
