Today marks the one year anniversary of the Trump administration violating the Iran nuclear deal. In the past year Trump and his hawkish advisers have pursued a path of dangerous escalation that can lead to war with Iran.

In one year the Trump administration has: 1/9
1. Devastated Iran’s economy by reinstating sanctions. U.S. unilateral sanctions have plunged Iran’s economy into a deep recession and the soaring prices are hurting millions of ordinary citizens. 2/9
2. Asked for military options from the Pentagon to strike Iran. 3/9
3. Supported a violent regime-change group, Mujahideen-E-Khalq, which has little to no support by the people inside Iran. 4/9
4. Organized an anti-Iran summit in Warsaw, Poland to create a coalition of countries against Iran and pressure European countries to abandon the Iran nuclear deal. 5/9
5. Designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization to escalate conflict throughout the Middle East. 6/9
6. Demanded that countries stop importing Iranian oil and threatened to sanction countries like China, India, and Japan if they continue to purchase oil. 7/9
7. Announced the deployment of warships close to Iran, a clear provocation. 8/9

With #Iran, The Trump administration has been pursuing a classic gambit of “heads, I win; tails, you lose.” Since the Iran nuclear arrangement was enacted, Trump continually lambasted it as “the worst deal in history” and a threat to American security.
After Trump canceled the deal, Iran reversed many of its nuclear policies, understandably. This, again, was treated by Washington as act of defiance, worthy of sanctions and saber rattling.
How can one look at Washington's behavior and not conclude that it is attempting to generate escalation and war? The admin didn't so much hate the Iran nuclear deal as it feared that it might work, that it might actually reduce tensions between Iran and the U.S.

 Let's talk about a recent @nytimes editorial rushing to the support of #Iran's mullahs by calling on U.S. President Donald Trump to drop his strong stance & literally return to the appeasement years of Obama.

 The @nytimes claims:
"The latest set of sanctions on Tehran could make a bad situation worse."

As if Obama's 2015 Iran nuclear deal made the situation far better by providing $150 bn in credit & $1.7 bn in cash to Tehran, allowing the mullahs to wreak havoc across the region.
3)
 "President Trump has made no secret of his desire to isolate and impoverish Iran."

The @nytimes chooses its words quite carefully to display an image of Trump making conditions worse for the Iranian people.

Trump's actions, however, are targeting the mullahs' regime.

We will realize how Tehran sought nuclear arms for decades. For a country sitting on an ocean of oil & gas, a "peaceful" nuclear program is meaningless.
