If we’re going to follow the Bible on abortion, the book of Numbers explains how priests must cause an abortion for pregnancies from affairs.

Personally I think that’s extreme, but if the woman wants to follow the Bible, that should be up to her.
In other words, the new Georgia & Ohio anti-abortion laws discriminate against Christians’ freedom of religion by not allowing them to follow the requirements of the Bible.
Ohio’s enforcement is apparently even making clear that abortion isn’t allowed even in cases of rape, which is ideally not part of marriage at all.
The only interpretation of Numbers that supports the idea that a child conceived by rape must be carried to term, is that abortion is only required if the sex was consensual.
But that’s not mentioned in the passage. It only describes punishment for the sin of being unfaithful, there is never a mention that abortion itself is a sin. Instead it’s a requirement.
These laws are unconstitutional, are passed in a spirit of cruelty, and are tools of control.

There is no basis in our government for passing laws based on the Bible, but if that’s their plan, these laws directly defy it.
