Seeing Gene Simmons in the news sent me back to my old Kiss albums and, um, guys...when's the last time you read these notes to the 1975 Kiss Alive album?
Keep in mind that probably 75-90% of the people who bought that album were teenage boys. The 1970s were wild, man. There's gotta be more than one American Studies or Gender Studies article written about the homoeroticism of Kiss, right?
And you're damn right, that's my personal copy of that album. In my defense, I would point out that the degree of ironic detachment with which I own it has increased steadily over the years.
The Venn Diagram of men who loved this album 44 years ago and the men who today are "not opposed to gay people, but just don't approve of the overly sexualized gay agenda" is pretty close to a circle, I'd guess.
