So, I’m going to follow up on this with some of the peer reviewed evidence based research that Glinner apparently hasn’t seen.

You know, just to have it out there.
1. Cornell University did a systematic review of available literature 1991-2017 (59 studies), looking at the effect of transition on wellbeing.

whatweknow.inequality.cornell.edu/topics/lgbt-eq…
These are their major findings.

Just to note - NONE of the studies they reviewed concluded that transition causes overall harm btw.
2. Pediatrics (2016), Vol 137, Iss 3: Mental Health of Transgender Children Who Are Supported in Their Identities

pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/137/3/…
You can also access the full paper from the same think.

Major findings:
3. The Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents.

Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.(2018)

Primary authors: A/Prof Michelle Telfer, Dr Michelle Tollit, Dr Carmen Pace & Dr Ken Pang

rch.org.au/uploadedFiles/…
These guidelines are endorsed as best practice by:

- ANZPATH
- The Lancet
thelancet.com/journals/lance…
The Lancet was quite clear about the rigor of the Guidelines.

And they also acknowledged that the patients autonomy is paramount.
This is the reference list from the Australian Guidelines, found on pages 31 & 32.

Citing 72 different sources (including the Olson research above in 2.)
Side note - these are the current standard of care in the Australian public health system and were published under a conservative (right wing) federal government.
4. World Health Organisation re-classifies gender sysphoria as gender incongruence in ICD11.

Based on review of evidence and expert testimony.

5. Dr Jack Drescher, one of the members of the DSM5 (2013) working group discusses the changes to gender dysphoria in DSM5.

Note, Dr Drescher also worked on ICD11 (2018), and discusses why there is a discrepancy between both.

This is the first part.

Right after the section on stigmatization, he talks about why GD wasn’t removed

Because, access to care/treatment.

“... to get access to services you need a diagnosis ...”
6. American Psychological Association (APA) - Guidelines for Psychological Practice With Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People

7. Endocrine Society - Endocrine Treatment of Gender-Dysphoric/Gender-Incongruent Persons: An Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline

On the society website: endocrine.org/guidelines-and…

Also published in JECM: academic.oup.com/jcem/article/1…
8. American Academy of Pediatrics - Ensuring Comprehensive Care and Support for Transgender and Gender-Diverse Children and Adolescents

pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/142/4/…
NOTE: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), publishes of the journal Pediatrics is the registered professional body for paediatricians and child health experts in the US.

The American College of Pediatricians IS NOT a recognized professional body.
In fact, the Southern Poverty Law Center cites it as a fringe anti-LGBT hate group.

The ACPeds is know for junk science and attempting to pretend to be the AAP.

Transphobes like quoting it a lot.

splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
9. American Psychiatric Association (APA) - A Guide for Working With Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Patients

psychiatry.org/psychiatrists/…
The APA also specifically talk about best practices given that - as they themselves state -

“...Many in the medical community are uninformed about transgender health care or even display outright transphobia...”

psychiatry.org/psychiatrists/…
10. Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) - Rainbow Health

rcpch.ac.uk/resources/rain…
Note: RCPCH supports the Stonewall report on LGBT health in Britain.

11. General Medical Council (GMC) - Trans Healthcare

gmc-uk.org/ethical-guidan…
12. British Medical Association - Gender Incongruence in Primary Care.

bma.org.uk/advice/employm…
And just for an added bonus, here is the British Medical Journal (BMJ) discussing the issue surrounding trans people lack of access to care in the UK.

Also citing the results from the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee report (Jan 2016) -

bmj.com/content/362/bm…
Regarding transgender equality.

For reference, you can find that report here: publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201516/cm…
13. American Medical Association (AMA).

The AMA has quite the number of policies about trans health and welfare (see screenshots).

You can access them here: policysearch.ama-assn.org/policyfinder
And for reference - the ban on trans people serving in the military in the US?

Could mean a rollback of health insurance coverage for trans kids of military families.

Which only granted in September 2017.

jamanetwork.com/journals/jamap…
Oops, correction, that should have been September 2017.
So, I can go on about the professional bodies that support gender affirming care for trans people.

Because, that’s pretty much all of them.

But I think I hit the big ones there.

Let’s go into looking at individual papers, shall we?
Here’s the executive summary of the report.

17. This is particularly interesting given the bathroom debates.

Transgender Adults’ Access to College Bathrooms and Housing and the Relationship to Suicidality

tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…
Spoiler:

“... Findings from sequential logistic regression (N = 2,316) indicate that denial of access to either space had a significant relationship to suicidality, even after controlling for interpersonal victimization...”
18. Suicide in trans populations: A systematic review of prevalence and correlates.

19. Let’s also look at the idea that being trans is just a “fad” for trans youth.

Nope.

20. Timeframe for gender identity being set.

21. Transition retreat in trans youth.

pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/134/4/…
Spoiler:

Also, as a chaser, the author list.
Two above should have been transition regret.

I’m living my brand 🙃
22. “Trans people are reinforcing gender stereotypes!!!!”

Yeah, no.

Also having a trans sib also means more flexibility in regards to gender.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/28913…
23. “Trans youth can wait to ecwn socially transition. It makes no difference.”

Again, yeah, no.

Well this is one long arse thread, and I’ve barely touched the surface.

And I haven’t even touched on the EBM behind the use of blockers/hormones from a physiological standpoint.

But I think I’ve pretty categorically addressed this tweet though.
Who is it again that is opposed to data and peer reviewed science?
