"I have no ideology" is an insidious ideology
As best I can tell from reading about the science, our brains have no direct access to reality. They mediate sensory data through narrative filters. To claim you've overcome that is to claim you're inhuman.
(To be more precise: our nervous system obviously does have direct access to reality, but before that data shows up in our conscious experience it gets mediated through narrative filters.)
I think the "no ideology" folks are well-intentioned. It would be awesome if we could be more bayesian, less polarized, etc.

But I think it's more honest to admit it: when it comes to abstract/macro issues, we're all to some extent virtue signalers held in the grip of stories.
