But much as it pains me, we have to be willing to call out even those who are supposed to be our allies if we're going to make them do better.
And we need to have an honest talk about Elizabeth Warren.
But looking at the money, it does not appear she's correcting course as we would hope.
That's great! But not when you commit to throwing such a pledge back out the window in the event you're nominated because "we have to beat Trump."
Warren, of all people, should know better. This is the same Liz a few years ago calling out the disastrous influence of that sort of cash.
She's also randomly thrown pock shots at Bernie for no good reason on multiple occasions.
An older instance, pre-run: buzzfeednews.com/article/rubycr…
And I've warned before the dangers of Devil's Advocacy, but this also doesn't inspire confidence.
But that might get towards things Warren can't help. Let me bring this back around.
Based on what I see right now, I fear Warren may be choosing personal expediency over accomplishing progressive policy.
I say none of this with the intent of drumming up a food fight between progressive camps.
On the contrary: I want Warren to do far better to restore our confidence she's in for the right reasons.
-Commit to not taking corporate money, including in the general election, because Bernie proved in 2016 you can run an effective campaign on small dollars.
-Cease needless swipes over policy debate
-Put your foot down on the policies Americans need and support most, ie. Medicare for All, rather than waffling about "multiple pathways" etc.
But if she wants primary votes for POTUS, this ain't it.
FAR better.
Fingers crossed she'll come out with us on the right side of history. /FIN
