In honour of @pollyn1 wedding day I want to share a short story.

When I was a baby my parents were homeless, they were camping out at my grandparents house. It was ok but couldn’t go on. My lovely mum @CazHughes101 went and sat in the council offices every day asking for help.
Every day the staff would say to my mum that she had no chance of being housed and would laugh that she might actually deliver me in the waiting room. My mum was deeply shy in those days so her bravery still astounds me today.
My mum gave birth to me (not in the waiting room) and then straight away started her campaign for us to be housed again. It was not successful and she was getting more and more despondent. A small baby, no jobs and no home. That was until a woman from @Shelter offered to help.
The woman who worked out of a small office on the Holloway Road took my mum by the arm and marched back to the housing office. My mum and dad were offered separate accommodation but their advocate from @Shelter did not step back from the challenge to keep us together.
Later that day my mum and dad got the keys to their own place in Finsbury Park. It was temporary and in disrepair, but it was our only hope of a home. My mum and dad were eventually housed in another beautiful place around the corner which we stayed in for 25 years.
My mum told me last night that if it wasn’t for @Shelter in 1975 she doesn’t know where we might be or what might have happened. Today me and my family are going to celebrate with @pollyn1 and it feels full circle in so many ways.

Congratulations Polly and Hugh ❤️🙌🏼🌈
