Being fair is a form of being proportionate, & can be subdivided into 3 main classes: equality, proportionality & desert.
It is not always right to be fair. Three key cases where it is wrong to be fair are: promises; family; and property.
Being fair is a residual form of morality. When we have no good reason not to act fairly, we should do so.
