The phrase "AG's good faith in that decision" stays in my mind. One shows 'good faith' by abiding by an agreement or understanding, particularly an informal, non-enforceable one. It wd be odd to praise the 'good faith' of one who has complied with a clear obligation.+
I think Mueller was adverting, very obliquely, to the intense battle he waged with Barr over the release of the report, with Barr's starting point being that the report, as such, might never see the light of day.
Over a period of one month, Mueller cudgeled Barr into agreeing to 'largely' release the report, and it was that agreement which Mueller grudgingly acknowledged Barr had shown 'good faith' in implementing. My hypothesis.
