The last sentence of the tweet below chimes w/ many other comments abt. Dem leadership's messaging being terrible, no good, bad. What abt hiring a top rung communicator, deeply experienced in govt. communications, and totally steeped in the details of this crisis, +
respected enough for mastery of legal and political substance that (s)he wd be trusted by leaders to speak for them ? What abt a DAILY press conference, at a specified time, w/ that person offering candid insights into what's going on, what the priorities are, the strategy, etc.
Of course, leaders wd still appear and make their own statements, as needed or desired. But between times, a central spokesperson of very high caliber cd quickly create the 'must attend' daily event on the Hill, and unify the messaging.
@matthewamiller comes to mind, and I'm sure others will have many other equally plausible suggestions. But the important thing is to create the role, and give it the 'juice' it requires, intellectually, to make it 'must see' TV every day,
