good afternoon from this very exciting meeting
there are over 1000 people on the waitlist, which is currently closed to new applicants, for a housing voucher in charlottesville. even people who HAVE a voucher struggle to find a landlord that will take it.
the HAC policy subcommittee is exploring options to incentivize landlords to accept the vouchers. offering them low interest loans for energy efficiency improvements would address both climate concerns & the housing crisis.

My Dad was shot & killed in 1991. His life was stolen. It left me parentless at the age of 19. I've been volunteering w/ @MomsDemand since its inception 5 yrs ago. This work is grueling, but I (like so many others) are compelled...
...to do this work because I simply have no choice. Sitting on the sidelines is not an option. The person who murdered my Dad will be released from prison in 1 1/2 years -- and could buy a gun w/o a bg check in a private sale....
...bg checks are not required in Missouri (where I live) --- or federally because Rs thwarted the Manchin-Toomey bg check bill after Sandy Hook. When they closed the door on us, we took this battle to the states....
