otoh, fine, do what you want. But otoh one of the enduring problems with the Times is it refuses to see its own biases. And not having a public editor means they go unaddressed.

To wit, they never addressed how this piece got in the paper, A1
nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/…
More recently, at least the packaging around the big stories on Barr's initial framing of the Mueller report repeated his spin. Again, unaddressed.
A vigorous airing of how stories—or again, often it's just/mostly the packaging— went south would be good for the paper, journalism, country.

But for whatever reason—partly arrogance—the Times has historically refused to engage in public (and even often private) post mortems.
Journalists are just people. Sometimes they get spun. Sometimes they make mistakes. Bad headlines get through. And it is surely true that a good faith effort to own up would not be universally met with good faith. Still, at least for the very big things...
One reminder: journalists, especially those covering anything remotely related to Trump, have been working insane hours for years now. If you think you're burnt out, try and have a little sympathy for those of us (and journos not alone) who never get a break from the madness.
