This is actually an argument for impeachment, because the exact thing that is being described fearfully here - a high-profile public proceeding that could be used to educate the public - would take place in the House, both initially and primarily.
It’s true that following that proceeding, the Senate would likely vote to acquit - although a lot can change. But so what? The public knows who controls the Senate and won’t have trouble understanding the politics, though many might be shocked at the depths the GOP will stoop.
It’s worth remembering that a similar process played out in the Kavanaugh hearing. And although he ultimately was confirmed, the public never came to believe he was innocent; they never approved of him; he never became popular. Most saw the GOP charade for what it was.
