A lot of people hope @DavidAFrench and @SohrabAhmari will conduct a long conversation about their debate on air, specifically on my show. @aarbaer asks what’s the status? Answer: Undecided. I think both want this to be a productive not personal exchange. That’s possible. 1
A fair characterization of debate in my mind is that @SohrabAhmari argues that conservatives ought to adopt the tactics of @realDonaldTrump, refine them and use them for higher purposes of the faith while @DavidAFrench believes they are impossible to use without damage to same. 2
But both are committed to depersonalizing it, which is wise. I hope they continue it as it is the only time a debate between two gifted intellectuals on an issue of means and ends and faith in politics has captured the public eye in many years. 3
Their arguments, developed and refined, could easily be adopted to campuses and other public forums. It is a great opportunity. I think I can play Switzerland in this opening round or two. I hope they agree. I’ll keep listeners posted. 4
