Indeed, I got a fair amount of nonsense from ppl who possess aggressive ignorance. I tried to help by tweeting links to BDS leaders publicly meeting with neo-Nazi groups, or on the way BDS social media groups have become hives of neo-Nazi hate—and freely allowed it to become so.
Ppl have decided they will only see BDS as a speech issue, so they will ignore that the BDS movement, including organizing on US campuses, is HQ’d in Ramallah and members, steering committee & secretariat include US- and EU-designated terrorist groups.
I have some sympathy for ignorant activists who thought “BDS” just means “pressuring Israel.” But I have zero sympathy for such ppl when they then find out what BDS actually is and yet continue to defend it.
Also, if you’re so insistent on anti-Israel activism that you don’t do any research on the orgs you join and are willing to sign your name to anything that demonizes the Jewish state, maybe ask yourself why that is.
A movement helped run by terrorist groups and which cooperates with and enables neo-Nazis. Whatever you need to tell yourself to help you sleep at night is on you, but don’t expect the rest of us to pretend that you have a scintilla of moral legitimacy on this.
