Let's clear this up.

1. Congress has the absolute right to subpoena WH documents.
2. The WH has a narrow set of cases when it can claim privilege, none of which apply here.
3. Ergo, either Barr gives the House everything they want or he's in contempt.
Trump, Barr and their allies are going to spin this as "Oh, we're trying to be reasonable and compromise and the House is refusing."

No. That's like a bank robber telling police, "Okay, let's compromise. Just let me walk out of here with $50,000 instead of $100,000."
To reiterate. Barr does not get to negotiate the size of the subpoena with Congress. He doesn't have that authority even a little bit.

Republicans held Eric Holder in contempt just for trying to negotiate how they'd *use* docs he was giving them. Let alone not handing them over.
