The consequences of our dwindling herd immunity have finally hit close to home.
Yesterday, my pregnant wife, who was fully vaccinated against measles, was told she’s unfortunately not immune.
1/
Saint John is home to her.
It’s where her whole family is.
It was understandably a hard pill to swallow.
2/
Now everyone is scrambling, checking vaccination records, calling public health, etc.
Pharmacies have “no available vaccines”, all have been rerouted for the outbreak.
3/
Still, it’s adding an extra level of apprehension to what should’ve been a well-needed, stress-free vacation.
5/
All of it.
We could be protecting the most vulnerable of us, which now includes my wife and our pregnancy, against this disease.
6/
7/
Others will become sick.
Then someone will die.
Please don’t let it be us.
End/
Oh well!
