1) Why does no-one talk about the EU trade defecit or German car makers any more?

The £350m & the lies on immigration were important but an absolute consistent #Brexit tag line was "they need us more than we need them"

*that* was the Brexit on offer, a desperate, pliant EU

2) the sequence of events is very simple yet never picked up by our media who cannot look back more than 48 hours:

- Brexiters told us the German car makers because of our huge trade defecit would be desperate for a trade deal
- "its in their interest, they have more to lose"

3) - Gove, Johnson, Davis, Grayling, Farage, all of them said we were guaranteed a better #Brexit deal than we have now

Some of them might even have believed it.

- we wouldn't need to be *in* the Single Market because we would have full *access* to it, at no cost to the UK

4) - then, as it became obvious this great #Brexit deal with full single market access wasn't going to appear Brexiters migrated into a bizarre doublethink

We *could* get this great deal, we'd just have to try harder
But
We also don't need a deal, because WTO is absolutely fine

5) and what's bizarre is that the media let brexiters get away with it.

There is endless footage of brexiters taking about our trade defecit, German car makers & "they need us more than we need them", but it's never brought up by any TV interviewer

6) No deal is proper #Brexit because No deal was *always* proper Brexit, that's what people voted for - even though that cannot possibly be the case because it was never a serious Leave position pre referendum

No one voted for it, because it was never offered

7) in fact the biggest collusion from the BBC in particular is the whole "well everyone knew we'd leave the Single Market"

Yes, because they were told we would negotiate something even better, with no membership fee but no downsides

8) what we're hearing from now are the core 30% mostly Tory or ex Tory #Brexit zealots, who never cared about the economics, or cultural impacts, or break up of the Union, because all they care about is Brexit at any cost - they want it, everything else is a distant third

9) this core 30% (mostly insulated from #Brexit downsides) talk confidently about "proper" Brexit & WTO rules even though they wouldnt know a WTO schedule if it bit them in the arse. It's all a smokescreen, something they can put up as a "plan" when really they just don't care

10) the failure of Corbyn, the Tories & the media is they've all played to this selfish, insular, destructive & Authoritarian core of 30% Brexit zealots - and given them a voice that they don't deserve

Farage has no answers for them, but guess what, they don't care

11) the fact remains however that a painless, cakeist (remember that word), "better than the SM" #Brexit was the one offered to the public in 2016

Corbyn kept up the myth with his deceptive "Jobs first Brexit"

But no deal was never seriously offered

13) there are in the end 4 simple facts that demand attention
- No Brexit on offer now was ever voted on
- the Brexit offered was impossible to deliver
- There can never be a majority in the UK for any, *any* Brexit
- the 17.4 m have never got behind no deal in any numbers

14) whether it's a GE, EU elections or Peterborough, when the 17.4 million (or the 61% of Leavers in Peterborough) were offered no deal/hard Brexit in any form - they simply did not come out in numbers to support it

15) the #Brexit paradox is this
70% of the country do not want no deal Brexit
30% will not settle for anything else - any kind of possible deal is a betrayal

So, we can't Brexit - it's that simple, because it satisfies only 30% or 20% of the country

And we live in a democracy
