Brexit is not THAT complicated!
▪️2016: 52% voted Leave
▪️2017: 80% voted for Parties whose manifestos said to Leave
▪️2017: 53% voted for parties whose manifestos said we must NOT leave without a deal
▪️Most hate the deal
Only MORE democracy can solve that contradiction!

B) Doesn't change the fact that the majority voted for parties who opposed No Deal.
That's the real problem with how we've interpreted the 2016 EU referendum result:

If the majority vote for something vague, but a majority also oppose any specific version of it, we can't keep saying people want the vague thing.

If you know that 83% of UK doctors and the organisation which represents all of them (@TheBMA) say that Brexit will be bad for the NHS, you just need to ask yourself which you care about more:
Brexit, or the NHS and the lives of British people.

The Brexit Party doesn't have a "big vision". They can't see beyond the end of their noses. They want #Brexit purely for its own sake and have zero idea what comes next, much less what is achievable if we leave without a deal.
If there ever was to be a big vision for #Brexit it would have to be rooted in the realities of modern trade taking into account the limitations of our predicament. Instead we get bloviation and bluster from people who've made a virtue of not knowing anything. Purest snake oil.
If Britain wants to be an independent country then it has to start acting like one. That means taking the issues seriously. The slogans might well please a kiptard audience but at some point all these pipedreams will be tested by reality. That's when Britain faces humiliation.

While we've all been distracted by the big #Brexit votes in the Commons - some really interesting happenings in the Lords on the Trade Bill 1/
Last week, peers amended it to to say parliament (*both Houses*) must approve a negotiating mandate & approve a final trade deal before ratification

Also requires approval of mandate/deal by a designated select committees & consultation with the devolved administrations 2/
There have also been amdts which try and address the UK's negotiating objectives with the EU (e.g. customs union, Northern Ireland border, mobility framework), but I'll leave my excellent colleague @awstojanovic to explain what those mean... 3/

1. Even on a cursory inspection it is easy to see that May's deal is BRINO. The fault lies squarely with the ERG Tories. They failed to plan. Had they done so they would have had a better grasp of the issues and anticipated this ambush.

2. There is no model where the EU waives its frontier controls without enhanced regulatory harmonisation. Frictionless trade was always going to require a compromise of a sort. The only model that cuts the ECJ out of the loop is the Norway option.
3. Failing to grasp how the EEA system works, they wrote it off as a non-starter believing the UK could get a better deal. We tried to warn them but you know how it is. You can't tell a Tory anything. They think they know it all already.

1. A strange disease stalks the land. When a person is confronted by well documented consequences of leaving the EU without a deal they simply grunt "Project fear!". This is odd because we are not talking about #Brexit economic projections...
2. It all comes down to this little thing you might have heard of called Article 50. The pertinent part being "The Treaties shall cease to apply".
3. You see, at the moment we have a deal. We have EU membership. We are part of the treaties. And if we leave and we do not secure a withdrawal agreement and subsequent arrangements for trade then we do not have a deal. The Treaties shall cease to apply.
