In the early days he was involved in everything. You can’t be involved in every meeting and every decision as the company grows. #CodeCon

.@karaswisher The same group of people have been there. Is it culty?

@ajassy So many people have been there 21-22 years. They almost feel like closet founders. There is that type of ownership. We all have the chance to do something [monumental] in business. #CodeCon

.@karaswisher: Who is your competition, who do you worry about Google or Microsoft?

@ajassy: We don’t spend a lot of time worrying about them. We’re pretty early in this space, in the infrastructure software space. Microsoft is the clear number two player. #CodeCon

.@ajassy on facial recognition software: I think the issue around facial recognition technology is a real one. I understand why people are worried about it. I think just because technology could be misused, doesn’t mean we should condemn it. #CodeCon

.@ajassy on facial recognition: I understand why people worry about it. We have clear guidance to customers who may use it in such a way that it contrasts civil liberties. If you want more protection, which I think is reasonable, the government should regulate it. #CodeCon

.@karaswisher: A police force, that isn’t doing a good job, and misuses it’s in the realm of possibility.

@ajassy: There are lots of ways you can get an investigation wrong. But, that doesn’t mean you should ban the technology. #CodeCon

.@karaswisher: Do you work with ICE?

@ajassy: As a matter of policy, we don’t disclose customers.

@karaswisher: There’s no government agency you won’t work with?

@ajassy: If there’s a government agency following the law, we’ll work with them.

.@karaswisher: Why does Amazon need another headquarters?

@ajassy: When you’re growing at the rate that we’re growing, you can’t convince everyone to move to Seattle. We were trying to pick places that had great talent. #CodeCon

.@karaswisher: Do you want to be CEO of all of Amazon when Jeff decides he wants to go to Mars?

@ajassy: I don’t think Jeff is going anywhere soon. I haven’t thought about it.
