This is a typical response by Sunni muslims, especially those belonging to Salaafi Sect. If it didn't sound too farfetched, they would have claimed Husain beheaded himself. Why do you suppose they want nothing to do with his murder?
The Caliph being the leader of the Sunni community, it's obvious that they wouldn't want the blood of Muhammad's beloved grandson on the hands of the Sunni Caliph. The story goes that Yazid asked the head of Husain to be brought back to him and poked it with a stick.
Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān had in effect abolished the Caliphate and established a hereditary monarchy, by the succession of his son Yazid, which goes against the laws practiced by muslims of electing a ruler through a council.

Two uncomfortable truths about "allyship":

1. Very few white people care enough about ending structural white supremacy to even try.

2. Of those few, most will do a complete 180° as soon as they're required to change any of their own behavior or ways of thinking.
Aesop taught us about fair-weather friends.

We can think of these as fair-weather fair-skin friends.
I've seen this all my life, but especially over the last six years.

So many people offered heartfelt sympathy and outrage at me being detained and interrogated for hours, but balk anytime they're made to feel complicit in systemic white supremacy in much smaller situations.

White sports fans damaging property after a game is a *RIOT*. Black people damaging property after centuries of oppression & yet another racist police killing is an *UPRISING* against white supremacist capitalism 1/
If the function of police was simply to protect property in any circumstance, the police response would be the same in either scenario. We see greater violence used against Black ppl b/c the real function of police is to enforce & maintain white supremacist capitalism 2/
Though it causes extensive property damage, white sports fans setting the city on fire is not a threat to the social & economic order. Oppressed Black communities rebelling against racism IS a threat. And so this is when we see police use the full extent of their force 3/
