This case is an impt one for me. As a young lawyer at @NAACP_LDF from 1988-1993 I litigated voting rights cases challenging the way state court judges are elected. One of those cases I helped develop was Hunt v Arkansas, challenging elections for trial ct elections in Ark.
I worked on cases challenging the election of state court judges in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. #StateCourts matter. Now @NAACP_LDF attys are continuing this important voting rights work at a critical moment - when state courts matter more than ever.
In 2017 we successfully challenged the method of electing trial court judges in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. naacpldf.org/press-release/…
Now we’re focused on elections for the Arkansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Black voters must have a meaningful opportunity to elect candidates of their choice to the state court bench. #StateCourtsMatter
