1. Ike Ekweremadu is the longest-serving presiding officer in the history of the National Assembly having served at the Deputy Senate President for 12 Consecutive Years.
2. Only 2 lawmakers have featured in all NASS inaugurations since the return of civil rule in 1999. They are Sen. Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu. They are both serving their 6th terms in the national assembly.
3. Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, Delta state is the longest serving Federal Lawmaker of the House of Representatives. He is on his 6th term.
4. With Femi Gbajabiamila’s emergence as Speaker House of Representative, he is the 1st person in Nigerian history to hold the 3 positions of the leader of the opposition (Minority Leader), Leader of the ruling party (Majority Leader) and Leader of the House of Rep (Speaker)
5. All, except one, of the 9 National Assembly members from Kwara state inaugurated today are first termers, they have the highest percentage of freshers across the Federation.
6. 3 lawmakers inaugurated in the 4th Assembly in 1999 were also inaugurated in 9th Assembly in 2019.
7. Throughout his 4-year stay in the 8th Assembly, Senator David Mark did not contribute to any debate on the floor of the house and he was the only Senator that did not belong to any standing committee
8. Former Senate President David Mark is the longest serving Senator in Nigeria’s history, quitting the red chamber last week after a 20 years stint. He is also Nigeria’s longest serving Senate President
9. Senator Ovie Omo Agege is the first Senator to win re-election in Delta Central Senatorial District. He sponsored over 10 bills in the 8th Assembly, reportedly the most by any Senator of the 8th Assembly.
10. With 312 bills passed, the 8th Assembly Senate under the leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki passed twice as many bills as any other assembly in Nigeria's history.
