We hereby call the attention of all well wishers and citizens home and abroad to the new development in Lagos as per rogue operations of the @PoliceNG which is clearly beyond the control of their leadership. #EndImpunity
Series of abductions have been carried out by rogue units in the @PoliceNG across major cities with ransom demands communicated to the parents. Those bold enough to report escalated these & some were fortunate while others had to raise funds to meet their demands. #EndImpunity
Our engagements and intervention have not been behind the authorities as we kept it transparent while we maintain accountability to the people. We reported the siege on travelers by rogue officers of Makinde/Akinyemi Police Station in Oshodi axis but all they got were warnings.
As I speak to you, Igbogbo Police station just issued a death sentence to a citizen for not meeting up their ransom demands and I doubt if the aged parent of the victim will survive this. I’m tired of reporting without getting immediate action from those who should care.
The life expectancy of an average youth in Nigeria is now halved based on the current trajectory, which rogue elements and their enablers in higher offices are trying hard to reinforce as a culture. This certainly will be the trigger of revolution because we will NOT allow it!
We will also be naming and shaming families that patronize these enemies of our democracy. If you people keep paying criminals in uniform, how on earth do you hope that they stop demanding? Commons sense should dictate that there are no guarantees that they won’t re-arrest.
Gbagada Police Station is the dump yard where all these innocent abductees are kept and threatened to call their relatives to bring money before they push them to a kangaroo magistrate for sentencing just for being alive. #EndImpunity
Gbagada Anti Cultism Unit at Charly Boy on Democracy Day have abductees they are demanding ransom from, in a country that pretends to practice democracy and ranking officers in the police are keeping their jobs? Same unit that murdered Kolade under same leadership?! @AcpIshaku
PPRO DSP Elkana Bala acted swiftly and is working towards setting the captives at Gbagada free. We however implore the FHQ to sanction these people once & for all before citizens start taking laws into their own hands. We won’t normalize abductions & ransom payment to police.
