1/ Today I am very excited to announce that Multicoin co-led a $15M investment into @helium with our friends at @usv.

This is the most compelling vision I have seen in the blockchain space since smart contracts on Ethereum. Link to the announcement at the end of the tweet storm.
2/ Telecom connectivity is one of the most capital intensive, centralized, regulated, and difficult markets for new entrants in the world. Telecom is also absolutely perfect for a blockchain based protocol to asymmetrically compete with the incumbents.
3/ Today if you want to connect an IoT device to the internet, you have to pay a legacy cellular carrier $32 up front and then another $30 per year. This is entirely uneconomical for the vast majority of IoT use cases.

4/ If you are deploying 10,000 sensors to track scooters around a city or cattle around a farm, these fees from legacy carriers are just too damn high!

If you are deploying traffic sensors at every intersection to optimize traffic flow, legacy carriers will charge too much.
5/ If you are manufacturing an IoT device, you need to negotiate contracts with wireless carriers in every country you are selling your product. That is a crazy amount of overhead and limits the pace of innovation.
6/ With Helium, there are no set up fees to add an IoT device to the network. There are no monthly charges, you only pay for the data you use.

Therefore the Helium network is *extremely* cost effective.
7/ I believe Helium will do for IoT what AWS did for internet companies. By dramatically reducing the cost for IoT businesses to operate, Helium will enable a Cambrian explosion of new IoT devices and businesses.

1/ @Ripple should create fiat-coins like USDC and use those for their inter-bank settlements.

xRapid would be a superior product for banks if the cryptocurrency used was a fully regulated, collateralized & price stable fiat-coin rather than the very volatile $XRP.
2/ Ripple Inc could even create fiat-coins for a bunch of other currencies (JPY, EUR, GBP, MXN) all fully regulated and easy for banks to adopt. By doing this, they could evolve past their biggest barrier to adoption: XRP.

And there is nothing stopping them from doing this.
3/ Ripple Inc is not a fiduciary to XRP holders. Holding XRP does not give you *any* claim on Ripple Inc's profits or success.

Ripple Inc pivoting to a fiat-coin based strategy is in their best interest because it gives them the best chance of success.

0/ I did not expect this result from the poll. It's clear to me that developers leaving doesn't kill a blockchain, it can continue operating without new development indefinitely.

Look at Litecoin for example...
1/ First we have to define blockchain death. My general sense is that if a chain is still producing blocks regularly and effectively protects against double spends (the whole point of a blockchain in the first place) then it is still alive.
2/ I think exchanges delisting would effectively kill a Proof of Work chain because no liquidity means no large scale mining. No miner would burn a bunch of electricity if there isn't sufficient liquidity to cover their costs.

Hobbyist miners are by definition small scale.

The security model of @AugurProject is being tested and this will be fascinating to watch.

If REP holders ultimately decide in favor of "Republicans" it will surely cause the price of REP to crash because future users won't want to bet on a platform which doesn't map to reality.
Given that fact, I expect that the dispute process will result in the correct outcome report of Democrats winning. It doesn't matter what the initial reporter says, there is enough incentive for other REP holders to step in and dispute.
Just like with Dai surviving this brutal bear market, seeing Augur's mechanisms successfully pass tests like this increases the credibility of the Augur protocol and will attract more people to build on top of it.

Very excited to announce the publication of our new paper in @NatureNeuro: rdcu.be/bhO9H with @russpoldrack, @DrBreaky, @spornslab, @kaylena88, @p_t_brain, Sanmi Koyejo and Rick Shine!
The work was inspired by a skype conversation with @spornslab – we were both interested in finding ways to track the dynamic trajectory of the whole network of the human brain over time, but didn’t love the standard idea of chopping up time series into discrete windows.
