“The Moon’s special connection to Earth is because the Moon formed _inside_ the Earth, when the Earth was a synestia.” Remember I was saying last month that this discovery is the one where - finally! - a geophysicist will receive a @NobelPrize? Watch this talk by @SarahTStewart.
I know I went out on a limb by saying that, but seriously, no geophysicist has ever won a Nobel prize & none ever will if it isn’t for this. What other mystery exists in geoscience of a more fundamental nature, restructuring such a prominent link in the great chain of origins,...
...which of course also has implications for the formation of Earth-like worlds and existence of life elsewhere in the universe? And this discovery was the result of both brilliant insight and long, hard effort, including experiment, theory, & simulation to explain observations.
So watch the video if you’d like to learn about a super cool discovery that (IMO, very seriously) rises to a the highest level of distinction.
