I was working for CNN at the time, and the pro-war drumbeat was so relentless and so horrible and I was so powerless to do anything about the disinformation that it was a major factor in my decision to quit in 2004 and move to Los Angeles to work for KNX.
It took me several more years to get to where I am now, but it was probably inevitable now that I think about it. I try not to think about my lonely years in Alaska obsessively reading Snopes during long winter nights and wondering if I could work at a place like that someday.
