Interviewed a guy for a code level malware reversing job who clearly didn’t know what mal reversing was at all and had just done some A/V admin.

This would be OK, but he kept us on the phone for over another hour insisting he was totally qualified and would just figure it out.
“Sir, thanks, but we’re not sure this job is the right fit because you don’t know assembly...”

“No, no, don’t worry. I’ll just learn it”

It was like buying a used Explorer.
A couple people messaged me, “but he’s so motivated”
If unclear, the guy applied for a totally different job than he intended. He didn’t know the function of the job in question or state any interest. But I can’t fault him for conviction. Whatever the job was, he was going for it
