This seems a crude analysis. They "benefit objectively" from high ratings and advertiser enthusiasm, but no American "benefits objectively" from the destruction of liberal democracy in norm and practice and the destruction of US power.
You have to be a very crude materialist to assume every actor:

a) sees "benefit" entirely in terms of short-term profit;
b) sees no "benefit" in sustaining long-term economic opportunities;
c) sees no "benefit" in sustaining other critical norms and traditions upon which American well-being and power are predicated.
