Stabbing moments of realisation that Boris Johnson will almost certainly be prime minister soon. Painful sense of national shame. General horror.
And then you forget about it for a while and stuff's fine. And then you remember again and it's horrible.
It's like a kind of political mourning. You go about your life, but occasionally remember and it knocks the fuck out of you. It's basically mourning the idea of your country as somewhere sane.
Incredible really that after three years of this it's still possible to feel embarrassment for the country. Not sure if it's because there's residual faith there or because things keep plumbing new depths.
