Ok before before I show the next one close your eyes and picture what a North American porcupine looks like.
Were you right? Lots of people don’t seem to recognize this animal because they think of something with big visible quills like the African species. Ours are much softer looking. And as a reminder they are rodents.

Alright folks, ready for this week’s answer? This bird is #NoCrow! As many of you guessed it’s a common raven!
Although this week’s main clue was subtle, once you know it, it’s a great subjective field mark to keep in your back pocket. Ready for it? Ok see these “horns”? That’s a raven thing. Crows don’t articulate their feathers like that.

Poor little CAJA are always the last to sell. I suspect that means more people need to know about these wonderful birds. Here are my 5 favorite things:
Their baby faces are a likely byproduct of the fact they don’t do much probing in the ground like other corvids. Instead they make sticky saliva and glue extra food to trees corvidresearch.blog/2018/10/19/you…
They more regularly carry food with their feet relative to other corvids. I once saw one make off with an entire slice of bread betwixt its toes!

TERRIFIC job today folks! Most of you have rightly guessed that today’s #CrowOrNo is no crow. It’s a jackdaw, Corvus monedula)! Also in the picture is a red deer, a native to Scotland where this photo was taken.
The clues today varied from beginner level to more advanced. At the beginner level we had the overall coloring and iris color. Now of course not all crows are exclusively black, and not all have brown/dark eyes, but the particular color patterns on this individual are unique.

Here is a #thread for the May 14th court proceedings in the trial for #NXIVM leader Keith Raniere. These are my notes after reading through the transcripts provided by court.
Court begins with an immediate sidebar which is redacted from the transcripts. After a discussion the jury is brought in and the judge explains an alternate juror was sick and they would adjourn for the day. The attorneys still have some things to discuss, however.
A discussion starts by assistant U.S. Attorney Moira Penza. She says some materials have to do with things recovered during a search warrant at Nancy Salzman’s home at 3 Oregon Trail when Raniere was arrested.

That the Clerk failed to brief out the one item on his call with JWR (SNC), something the PM was in a mood about, something the PM had spoken to Wernick about that very day. Because holidays.
(This, let’s remember, is the SNC call the PM *asked* the Clerk to make the *day after* PMO (Butts-Telford) hauled in JWR’s chief of staff to tell her to get in line (ie DPA) on SNC)
