1/ Popped into @CategoryIsBooks in my constituency this afternoon. It was an opportunity for me to discuss concerns about yesterday’s Gender Recognition statement and further deepen my own understanding of the issues that trans and non binary people face.
2/ I am committed to reform of the Gender Recognition Act. I hope the path set out yesterday by @S_A_Somerville will allow @scotgov to show, through the detail of a draft Bill, that our proposals will not undermine women’s rights...
3/...while also addressing the many challenges and barriers that trans people face. As a strong feminist and a strong supporter of LGBTQ equality, I want Scotland to be a place where everyone can feel safe, supported and accepted for who they are.
4/ the brilliant booksellers in @CategoryIsBooks also recommended some reading on these issues and (as I always do when let loose in a bookshop) I picked some novels too 📚
