NT! So, there's a big freak out happening among the Left today, after President Trump announced that ICE would be going out to round up illegal aliens, and the news broke that they'd be doing that tomorrow.
All kinds of people are condemning this action, stating erroneously that ICE is going to round up *all* of the illegal aliens here. That's ludicrous on the face of it, as there are between 20 to 50 MILLION people here illegally.
The other aspect that isn't being mentioned is that, those people ICE is looking to round up are people who applied for asylum, were denied, and subsequently received deportation orders from an immigration judge.
That cuts the number down significantly, but if you get your news from CNN, MSNBC, or listen to Shaun King and others, you would *not* know that. They don't want people to know that. Instead, they want to sow fear and division.
Most of those people who claimed asylum were given a date to sow up for a hearing, to determine if they had a valid case or not, but never showed. Because they never showed, their asylum claim was denied, and they were ordered to be deported, in abstentia.
The current statistics show that approximately 90% of all asylum applicants are denied, and they are sent home at tax payer expense. What no one mentions is that, for those that don't show up for their hearings, that stat rises to 100% denial.
In other words, 10 out of 100 people who have applied for asylum would actually get asylum granted, but because they don't show up to their hearing, they get denied instead, and are ordered removed from the United States.
Why does nobody mention that to those who come here seeking asylum? There really are cases where people have legitimate claims, but if they don't show up, they get denied in abstentia. This is an injustice to those who have legitimate claims.
Among all the hue and cry about ICE doing the job they were hired to do, many are putting out information on what to do if they are contacted by ICE, which is to generally resist. Also, they are being advised to hide.
To those who are advocating this, you are also breaking the law by aiding and abetting, interfering with a federal law enforcement agent in the performance of his or her lawful duty, and the biggest one of all is ...
You are obstructing justice ... which is ironic, considering all of the unwarranted howling you all have been doing about Trump (supposedly) obstructing justice. it must be ok when you do it.
I am not against immigration, as long as it's done legally. In my 40 year work career, I've worked with people from at least 190 countries from around the world, all of whom came here legally.
What I am against is someone entering this country illegally, and then becoming a drain on our services and resources which should be going to our citizens instead, (some) committing additional crimes, and being a danger to our communities.
If we truly want to remain a sovereign nation, we must secure our border, close the loopholes in our immigration laws which are a magnet drawing a seemingly never ending supply of illegal aliens.
Congress must act to stop the current crisis at our Southern border, and stop using these people as political pawns to score points with the respective bases. This has been going on for far too long. Get to work and fix these problems!
