Good decision in the Census case. 5-4 Court finds that Secy Ross's rationale for why he added the citizenship question is a pretext and "seems to have been contrived." Upholds the district court, remands back to the agency. supremecourt.gov/opinions/18pdf…
Remanded back to the agency but the time is short for Ross to remake a rationale for the question, and the Maryland case looms in which the plaintiffs now have smoking gun evidence of racial discrimination as the basis for adding the question. Census forms to be printed in Oct.
