What are the chances that if partisan #gerrymandering were a Democratic technique, that had generated counter-majority Democratic political advantage, the Republicans on the Court would have rendered this decision?

If it really is too difficult for judges to sort out, as the Roberts Five aver, why was every lower court judge in every case quite readily able to sort it out? This looks to be another in the long chain of false facts the Roberts Five invents to justify 5-4 partisan decisions.
Add this to the list of 73 5-4 partisan decisions (through 2018) the Roberts Five have delivered for big Republican donor interests. #CapturedCourt

Resigning doesn’t get Wehrum off the hook for ethics violations at @EPA. His efforts to weaken climate rules to favor his polluter former clients will do lasting damage.
As EPA’s head of air policy, Wehrum failed to disclose some former law firm clients, but kept meeting with them! Not allowed.
Case in point: Wehrum used to work for Alliance of Auto Manufacturers; failed to disclose this; at EPA met with them 6 times; then Trump administration froze mileage standards for cars/light trucks. Hmmm.

Backstory: @USChamber spends more on federal lobbying than ANY other lobbying group. But it has failed to disclose which of its member companies fund its lobbying. How do member companies feel about this potential illegality? @CocaCola, @facebook, et al., you paying attention?
BTW: Isn’t there a governance obligation to understand who is funding an entity on whose board you sit? Duty to inform yourself?

The professional politicians have done an excellent job of splitting up the issues to keep the citizens fighting with each other so we don’t focus on the fact that they are the problem, not us.
The professional wrestling promoters know that good fighting evil and prompting the audience to be involved in the action will keep people engaged. Our career politicians know it, too.

Without a crisis to engage the public, the career politician is less significant.

In our brief, we made the case for judicial oversight of extreme partisan gerrymandering: “Deliberately drawing districts for the purpose of keeping one party in power for the long term, and without any neutral justification for the result, has no place in our political system.”
The consequences of #Gerrymandering are dire--“It discourages voter participation, increases distrust of government, and reduces the responsiveness of elected representatives.”

OK, new thread for the dissent, written by Justice Kagan. And she pulls no punches in the intro: Partisan gerrymandering "encouraged a politics of polarization and dysfunction. If left unchecked, gerrymanders like the ones here may irreparably damage our system of government."
As Kagan begins her review of the facts, she asks this pointed question: "As I relate what happened in those two States, ask yourself: Is this how American democracy is supposed to work?"
Kagan goes on to add: "You might think that judgment best left to the American
people. But give @RepDavidRLewis credit for this much: The map has
worked just as he planned and predicted."
