@tammyleitzel @narceducator With Trump, when something functional/normal is tweeted, it causes people to question whether he wrote it. Here, the random capitalization, the multiple exclamation points, and the vernacular all appear/sound like his communication style…1/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator At this point, we know who he is, and how he functions, so even when he does something “good”, there’s very little doubt why he did it: because it benefitted him in some way…2/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Everything is transactional, everything is conditional (as opposed to “unconditional”), everything is zero-sum. Nothing is done out of generosity, or empathy, or moral/ethical principle…3/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Every action is calculated to determine not just if there will be an equitable return on investment/effort....because they don’t think in terms of equity or fairness (at least not from an objective standpoint)…4/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator …the calculation they perform that determines whether they will act must reveal that they reap considerable more benefit, if not all of the benefits, than whoever else is involved in the transaction. 5/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Often there will either be preliminary manipulation where the Narcissist/Sociopath will sell other people on the benefit that other people will directly or indirectly gain, while either concealing the magnitude (disparity) of their gain, or some ulterior, unseen gain…6/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator ….and/or they retroactively characterize their behavior (the transaction) in a way that diminishes the exploitation that occurred (i.e., a rapist retroactively trying to convince his victim that she also benefitted from the “transaction” because the sex was that good). 7/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Often, the manipulative sales pitch involves details about others legitimately benefiting from the transaction....not because the Narcissist cares about those people, but because they use other people’s morality/humanity as leverage in the negotiation, 8/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator ....because from a pure negotiation standpoint, morality/humanity can be a liability because the emotional investment inhibits the ability to remain objective. This will always create unequal bargaining/negotiating power and leverage for the narcissist. 9/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator In Trump’s case, he has reached a point where he can say or do anything, and there will be almost zero consequences from 40% of the country. He can literally lie, and say that the exact opposite of what happened, happened……and they will believe him. 10/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator He can engage in actions (tariffs) that directly harm his supporters…..and they defend his actions, if not cheer him on as he does it. The above dynamics occurred with the border: He manipulated and incited people with talk of a crisis…11/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator …he responded with unspeakable cruelty that created a real crisis while convincing people (many of whom are “pro-life” Christians) that the inhumane response was not only justified, but was solving the problem that he incited them to believe existed…12/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator ....He then leveraged other people’s humanity/empathy (that he doesn’t possess) to create the appearance of a resolution. He then thanks everyone (Democrats/Mexico) in a way that implies that a previous lack of cooperation was what caused the crisis or delayed the resolution, 13/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator ....which allows him to walk away with a chest-thumping political victory (a “win”)……..even if/when that “win”, is merely getting back to a starting point that existed prior to his creation/exacerbation of a problem or a crisis. 14/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator With regards to people in your personal life, usually you have a point of reference or a history where you know how they operate. So in every situation ask yourself why they are doing what they are doing and what they have to gain from it. 15/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Not every situation where they have something to gain will be one that will be needed to be avoided, because sometimes you have to give them a "win", or allow them or yourself to feel like their manipulation was successful. This often happens with co-parenting where they....16/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator ...try to manipulate you by couching it in terms of how it benefits you/kids (taking the kids on your ex's scheduled days), even though it's really about them dumping the kids off on you so the ex can party, etc. You get your kids, your kids see you...give the ex a "win"....17/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Regardless of whether it’s someone you have an extensive history with, or someone you’re just encountering, you can often pick up on body language and energy that just doesn’t feel engaged or connected in a functional or comfortable way. 18/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator Often, you’ll sense an evasiveness that will either be the by-product of concealment or desire. Evasiveness that is accompanied by concealment often is an attempt by someone who’s been hurt/traumatized/humiliated to create or maintain protective walls from the outside world…19/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator When evasiveness is accompanied by desire, it’s often an attempt to hide the fact that they want something or will attempt to take something from you. 20/
@tammyleitzel @narceducator ...In the former situation, it often feels like you are initiating the connection (pursuing them)…....in the latter, an aggressive attempt to connect/engage with you often will trigger an intuition that warns you that you’re at risk of being preyed upon. 21/
