Yes. The latter can’t bring itself to believe the plot could ever get that dark and bleak, because they don’t take the consequences of the Left’s philosophy seriously. So they attack those of us who do.
And they’re terrified to imagine it’s no longer 2004—when the establishment GOP was at its height of power—so, like a security blanket, they cling tightly to that completely obsolete political reality.
It’s not really at all about Trump, of course. Many of us were shouting (respectfully, even!) about un-won wars, immigration and other issues for years. We noticed the ground shifting, but were marginalized by the establishment until Trump.
Look at Libya, a great example. I can’t think of more than a small handful of GOP or conservative politicians who opposed that *obvious* disaster. Few spoke up because Est conservative media would whack them on the head.
But even more, I think few stepped up to oppose Libya because it was outside of their understanding to do so. All the “serious” conservative foreign policy types were gung-ho, and the potential consequences of that intervention were not discussed *at all*.
