DOJ undertook an effort to get foreign state-owned media companies to register as foreign agents. Many China- and Russia-controlled state media entities have already complied with new DOJ regs, registering under FARA. Not Al Jazeera, though. 
Qatar and Al Jazeera have been playing games. They claim AJ isn't controlled by the Qatari government, which is a *preposterous* and bullshit assertion.
Here @JordanSchachtel echos an important point I've made before. Sure, it's unacceptable that Qatar, one of our so-called "allies," is running programming glorifying suicide bombing and jihad. But what they're doing inciting Islamist revolutions is a lot more dangerous.
Right now, Qatar drops millions of dollars in DC and in the US on political info ops and greasing palms. Some of it is declared under FARA as "lobbying."
Having their Al Jazeera Network call itself "media," tho, gives them a MASSIVE dark money slush fund. This needs to stop.
