I am happily working on a paper, and would like to share a couple of thoughts which may or may not be well formulated yet. The first one is - what do I do if I feel stuck within writing a paper? This answer, I've found, depends on what you're actually working on. Let me explain.
I have to return to the editor 5 R&Rs. 3 are VITAL, 2 I can live with returning them a bit later, and I have other writing commitments (like we all do). I try to work on all the VITAL R&Rs every day, as per my MEPFED model of working. raulpacheco.org/2017/02/mepfed… HOWEVER...
Not sure if this ever happens to you, but there are times when you try to work on Project 1, you're stuck. Project 2, you're stuck, Project 3, you're stuck. I use "Lateral Writing" raulpacheco.org/2018/10/latera… as a strategy to keep moving (I work on something else but still important)
Even applying my 5 strategies to get my writing unstuck raulpacheco.org/2014/05/five-s… I'm still stuck (on Projects 1, 2 and 3). So what I do is I use prompts to move forward a tiny bit on Project 1, then on Project 2, then on Project 3 raulpacheco.org/2017/03/using-… and if there's any time...
... left in my day and I have any energy, I work for a bit on R&R 4 and 5, on Writing Commitment 1 and 2, etc. For example, I'm working on revising the lit review for R*R 2, creating my Drafts Review Matrix for the re-review of R&R 1 raulpacheco.org/2018/02/an-imp… and ...
Backcasting how I'm going to respond to the re review of R&R 3 raulpacheco.org/2019/03/backca… in the end, only you know how you want to work, but this strategy has helped me keep moving forward. </end micro-thread>
