1/ Today I watched a good part of the 2nd democratic debate. First thoughts:
- how cool that a random draw created the "funny surname" table
- Bernie is taller than I thought
- There's a candidate qualified as "author" who has no idea what planet she is in.
2/ Up to now, only the unelectables had the courtesy of answering questions. I have my little issues, a long life as a professor, a bit of OCD (benign) and "kinda in the spectrum" (benign) but a non-dialogue is booooooooooooooring.
3/ As in:
- Do you prefer pasta or rice for dinner?
- Thank you for asking: the mandatory closing of liquor stores on Sundays is definitely anti-secularist.
First, it's confusing. Repeated frequently enough, it's irritating AF.
4/ Harris was emphatic, dramatic, showed strength but had those same stupid advisors speaking on her ear but as the guys from yesterday. She - and everybody else except for Pete and Yang - went to a debate and acted as if she was in a podium. That's embarrassing.
5/ Biden scares me. Not for being wrong, but by being at the same time utterly unprepared and apparently rejecting the stupid adviser's earbud. Interviewers had to ask him at least twice if he had or not raised his hand to a "hands raised question".
6/ He seemed pretty anxious, holding his hand half-way... "should I raise my hand or not? Humm... let me think... What did they ask again? God, I can't remember". Seriously, anything is better than a fascist psychopath but Biden is scary.
7/ Bernie is paranoid online and absolutely irrelevant in the debate. Not a single innovative idea and unable to answer project management questions. Ok, Medicare for all: how will you accomplish that? Platitudes, platitudes, platitudes.
8/ Swalwell is to off on everything that he dared declare that no technological innovation that reduced jobs should be developed. Yeah, we had a Stalinist imbecile in Brazil who, as Minister of science and technology, enforced not funding such innovations.
9/ Here's the problem: this is how technology evolves. It improves efficiency, therefore, man-hours for a given task. Guess what that means? Sure, a lot of new technologies may generate jobs but to say that "no technology that...."
10/ is obscurantist to say the least and outright ignorant as worst case scenario (and the most probable). Yang knew. Look up his c.v.: yes, he knows.
11/ A nauseating show of hypocrisy. There were no failures, mistakes, regrets... nothing. Except for mayor Pete, who admitted he failed to solve the police violence issue and advanced a hypothesis as to why, nobody admitted to a single failure or regret.
12/ I know that in the court of public opinion Harris won. But technically speaking, she violated the rules of debate as much as beloved-Ihaveaplan-Warren. Unfortunately, it seems the only candidates who are significantly prepared and opposed to populism are the unelectable ones.
