We all have heard about Badrinath, one out of Char Dham Yatra. But there are Pancha (5) Badri Kshetra on the way to Badrinath.I'm posting a thread where I visited this week with few about details along with video and images.

1. Aadi Badri - is a group of sixteen temples, belonging to the Gupta period. Among them is the Narayan temple, where a black stone idol of Vishnu, three feet high is enshrined. Badrinath being the name for Vishnu.

2. Vriddha Badri an austere shrine, is located in the Animath village 7 km 30 from Joshimath on the Joshimath-Badrinath road.The Vriddha Badri legend says that Vishnu appeared in the form of a Vriddha or old man before sage Narada who performed penance here.

3. Yoga Badri is at Pandukeshwar&ancient as main Badrinath located en route frm Hanuman Chatti-Govind Ghat of 9 kms.
Legend has it that King Pandu, father of 5 Pandavas meditated to cleanse him of sin of killing of 2 mating deer,who were ascetics in their previous lives
4. Vishal Badri or Badrinath. The legend states that Mahavishnu in his incarnation as the sages Nara and Narayana, did penance in an open space at the location of the Badrikashram . It's open from Vasant Panchami day while the closing day is Vijayadashami day

5. Bhavishya Badri, 2,744m above sea level is located in a village called Subhain at a distance of 17 kms from Joshimath, beyond Tapovan and approach is through dense forest, only by trekking. Tough Trek of 7kms 3 hrs upwards & half a time to return.
