/ As Robert Mueller's testimony approaches on July 17th, expect attacks on him from Donald's right wing henchmen to grow more desperate. That's because they know Mueller's report exposed serious crimes by this President. But it's worth taking a walk down memory lane...
/ It's worth remembering that Robert Mueller had the support of Republicans when he started his investigation because, despite the President's attacks, Mueller himself is a highly respected Republican. Former House speaker Paul Ryan held Mueller in high regard:
/ Marco Rubio expressed his full confidence in Mueller and his probe, and was certain he would deliver a fair assessment. He did- and now 1,000 federal prosecutors agree Donald Trump would be indicted for obstruction of justice if he weren't President.
/ Mitch McConnell expressed similar confidence in Mueller. Perhaps he did not anticipate the investigation would land Donald Trump's campaign manager in prison for conspiracy against the United States and expose his collusion with a Russian intelligence agent to share poll data.
/ Even Steve King had nothing but nice things to say about Bob Mueller. He must not have seen Donald Trump's blatant attempt to obstruct the investigation by ordering Don McGahn to fire Mueller, as detailed in Volume II of the report.
/ Lindsey Graham must not have seen that coming either- he felt Mueller was conducting himself fairly and did not believe the President had grounds to remove him either.
/ Even Senator John Thune, who was so strident on the topic of lying Presidents in the Clinton years, supported Mueller- for whatever reason he was not surprised to read about the President making up false stories about the Trump Tower meeting seeking Russian dirt on Clinton.
/ Now, these Republicans will work in concert to deny the reality of the investigation's findings. First collusion: justsecurity.org/63838/guide-to…
/ And secondly and most definitively, obstruction of justice: justsecurity.org/64362/muellers…
/ Robert Mueller left it to Congress to hold this President to account. His testimony to Congress is part of that solemn obligation- to exercise oversight on the Executive and to guard against high crimes- as described in the Constitution. July 17th is a crucial date. /End
