How to run a workshop with school students:

So many thoughtful & lovely replies to my request, so here's a quick thread summarising their, and my, thoughts.
First, tone / structure: completely agree with @raechel_kelly & @crossborder that it should start with *their* ideas & knowledge. ('flipped classroom' in the jargon)

I do not plan to tell them what to do. But I can facilitate, answer qs, build confidence....
...to help them work on their own ideas.

So: I will start with a short science A&Q (not Q&A): What do you know already? What do you want to know?

And then get them to brainstorm actions, based on a loose framework: at home; at school; through protest; positive projects etc...
... then help them develop these ideas and actions, provide signposts, resources, etc.

And of course, acknowledge the emotions in this - anger, fear, grief - as many of you have advised.

Ok on to resources:
Here's a lovely, sensitive talk & slides from @DoctorVive, I think it's perfectly judged - I will be stealing from it for sure

A summary of the IPCC science for teachers (thanks @VaneBailo)
ipcc.ch/site/assets/up…
A really useful slidepack from Global Action Plan (thanks @ChrisLarge1)

A great "audacious toolkit" from @JKSteinberger (thanks (@KatyRoelich)

And finally: some suggestions for what young people can do:
Go and see your MP / local politicians
Help school take action
Strike in front of companies who are part of the problem
Use UN rights of the child as starting point for discussion
Strike up conversations with family
plant trees
think about careers - what's needed to transform society?
link to eco-clubs in other countries
write to their heroes & ask them to take action

THANKS EVERYONE for these, sorry not to namecheck individuals.

And finally...
... I think it's really important to demonstrate how powerful it is when young people make their views known, and act. Children have power because they are not in positions of power. I wrote about this, it makes me simultaneously sad and hopeful.
