Report: FBI discussions about Carter Page wiretap were stalled, and then the Steele dossier came along. dailycaller.com/2019/07/10/fbi…
NYT adds new detail to the timeline of FBI's efforts to get a FISA on Page. They report that discussions began in August 2016, *while Page was on the campaign*.
They also report again that FBI investigators interviewed one of Steele's main sources in Jan. 2017, and came away questioning his reliability. Of all the leaks during Russia probe, that wasn't one of them.

An exhibits list has also been released. One that caught my eye was an email exchange between a Flynn Intel employee and Ali Cinar, the head of the Turkish Heritage Organization. Cinar tells me he’s not a trial witness

Ben Smith acknowledges that BuzzFeed's Cohen story is at odds with the Mueller report. But he's not willing to say that it has been disproved (which would be quite a high bar to reach) esquire.com/news-politics/…
The special counsel's report pretty thoroughly undercut the story, even if BuzzFeed won't admit it. Cohen did testify that he thinks Trump implicitly wanted him to lie to Congress, but Cohen also testified that he had no convo w/ Trump about the specifics of the testimony
Cohen testified that Trump telling him "no Russia, no collusion" amounted to being instructed to lie to Congress about the details of Trump Tower. That's a stretch, and Cohen had a lot of incentive to downplay his culpability.

We've been looking at this the wrong way !!
It has never made sense that Carter Page was an FBI witness in March/May 2016 and yet in October 2016, to achieve the FISA warrant, the FBI called him an agent of a foreign government.
It never made sense because we were looking at it the wrong way.
