I acted badly yesterday on Twitter and hurt a marginalized creator in our community. I failed to understand how my actions were punching down. I apologize to DC and to the community. 1/

In the future, I will take these steps to avoid repeating this bad behavior:
Ask if I'm invading a space.
Listen when I'm told I'm not contributing, and step out.
Ask what is needed in a discussion instead of assuming.
Walk away for 20 minutes and cool down when I feel heated. 2/

In addition, I commit to continue to boost marginalized voices in our community -- by sharing their work on Twitter and by organizing a panel where marginalized creators have a platform. 3/

Again, I'm deeply sorry for the pain I've caused. Please do not harass DC or anyone else involved in this situation.
