Up to this point, Pelosi has done a good job keeping the Dems at least mostly on message.

She’s in real danger of losing that after her most recent spat with AOC.

To be clear: Pelosi is obviously not racist; it’s borderline asinine for AOC to even suggest it, particularly in light of *real* racists like Tucker Carlson’s new comments:
AOC and Pelosi have always had at least a semi-contentious relationship. I don’t believe AOC is being deliberately divisive — and I think she has a bright political future ahead of her — but personally attacking Pelosi is *not* the way to put skins on the wall.
I share many of her frustrations with how slow DC moves, but party infighting does nothing but benefit Trump.

For those of you who are bummed out about Mueller’s testimony yesterday:

Take a deep breath. Ignore the news articles.

The testimony wasn’t a “flop.”

Perhaps it didn’t live up to reality-TV expectations, but Mueller did exactly what he’s done from start: 1/3
He was deliberate, honest, and offered a poignant take on present-day America.

He was never going to stand in front of Congress and yell “impeach the MF.”

Nonetheless, when questioned effectively, he gave answers that were absolutely damning to POTUS. 2/3
It’s also moving the needle. Over five new lawmakers have called for impeachment since his testimony.

Nadler himself pushed Pelosi for an immediate inquiry during their meeting yesterday.

I know sometimes people think I’m irrationally optimistic, but it won’t be long now. <END>

This is a really interesting, well-written piece.

I’ve been wondering exactly where Soriano fits in with Deripaska, Rybolovlev, and Netanyahu for awhile.

Scott answers many of those questions here.
Reminder:

Rybolovlev is the Russian who bought Trump’s Florida mansion for $95 million — just a *little* above the $41 million Trump paid for it four years earlier.

Rybolovlev never lived there.
Deripaska is one of the most wealthy oligarchs in Russia. He has close ties to Putin, Paul Manafort, and Konstantin Kilimnik.

His most recent endeavor involves building steel plants in Kentucky after McConnell and Rand Paul voted to remove sanctions from his businesses.

Pelosi has made it pretty clear for months now that CPC and the Squad will not get anywhere absent direct confrontation with leadership at every juncture. They are expected to get nothing and be happy, or be humiliated by leadership within the caucus. washingtonpost.com/politics/outri…
It's not just Pelosi vs. AOC-Tlaib-Omar-Pressley. It's Pelosi vs. the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which has 80+ members. And it's been that dynamic since the leadership contests, the fights over rules and procedure, committee assignments, and now legislation & messaging.
Gottheimer and his conservative Problem Solvers faction organized to blow up Pelosi's border legislation, and she responds by attacking the people who complain about how bad the resulting legislation is, and protecting the people who successfully blew up Pelosi's own bill.
