Earnest thread for all reviewers of this book:

Two months ago, Bari Weiss lied about my Jewish art, insisting I was a *Nazi* — at a time when actual Nazis are on the march in America — because my Jewish traditions are not the same as hers, (1/6)
...because I celebrate Jewish culture in ways she insists should be verboten, and because I think Palestinians deserve suffrage. In other words, she knowingly abused and weaponized the horror of antisemitism in an attempt to destroy the career of an anti-Nazi artist. (2/6)
At the same time, Weiss has eagerly courted and normalized personalities and venues such as Quillette that give platforms to actual Nazi allies — the kinds of people who deny the Holocaust and who openly seek to exterminate the world’s Jews. (3/6)
This is not a matter of being “provocative” or “acrimonious.” It’s about lying about Jews, lying about antisemitism, and normalizing actual hatreds. And it is not corollary to her book. It is the heart of it. (4/6)
Any review that does not contend with this history — specifically with Weiss abusing the real danger of antisemitism and misrepresenting the threats we face to ruin the lives of people who support Palestinian suffrage — is committing critical and journalistic malpractice. (5/6)
It would be like writing a review of a Judith Miller book about journalistic integrity while omitting mention of the articles Judith Miller wrote in the runup to Iraq. Not just sloppy, but missing the core of the issue on which the author feigns expertise. (6/6)

Shabbat Shalom.
