They have awesome new reserved seats for travelers with disabilities at gate B12! I commented on how great they were to a supervisor just as a family of five started to occupy them.
This was a timing glitch, not a pointed comment, but they still looked abashed and moved to the non-reserved seats
Sometimes saying something does change things.
Got up to pee and the apparently able-bodied descended. Always fun having to cough and clear my throat until they stop pretending I and my cane don't exist.
I try really hard not to assume. But there's a different look between "I'm sorry, I need my seat" and "I know I shouldn't be here, so I can't see you."
(Again, trying not to assume. When my disability was newer, I made that second face, although I never tried to blank someone using a cane.)
The little boy next to me just loudly asked his mother, "WHY are WE sitting in the HANDICAP SEATS?"
